Introduction

Hello all that stop by to read my blogs.  My name is Wendy Adams and I'm an Independent AVON Sales & Leadership representative.  My story is most likely the norm.  I joined AVON to receive my products at a fraction of the cost.  Before Avon, I was an avid user of the OTHER PINK COMPANY products.  Having been a former Other Co. Lady, I decided to check into re-enlisting as a Beauty Rep for them.  I went to a meeting with another rep I knew and got all the basics I needed to get started. 

Okay, let's see, to get started it would cost me $99 to purchase the kit just so I would have demo products to be able to do facials and skin care classes.  Next, I would need to place a minimum of $200 (wholesale) orders every two months to keep my activity.  Keep in mind this $200 meant $400 in retail products.  "Could I actually use THAT much skin care and cosmetics up within a 2 month period?", I asked myself.  I thought not.  So I decided to make a few phone calls to friends and family to see who else could use a big discount on their products and would they be willing to place an order with me every two months. 

The first person I called was my neighbor, Stacy, who told me that sure she would be willing to purchase some things, but not every two months.  She shared with me that she had recently started selling AVON and had really liked their products.  "Hmmm, Avon?  How much did that cost you to get started?" I asked.  Her answer astounded me!  Only $10!!! Are you kidding me?  Just $10 to join the number one direct selling company in the world, the one company who has been in business for over 120 years.  But could their products really compare to that other company's?  Well she seemed to be impressed and her skin always looked so youthful.  So I asked my next questions, how much do I have to order and how often?  I figured this would be the kicker and that I'd have to do something unbeleivable to stay an active representative.  However, when she told me that if I only wanted to place an order for a $1 lip balm I could, I was SOLD!

As my friend was not in leadership and at that time, you had to pay to be in leadership, she referred me to my Leader, Sandy, who would meet with me to get me started.  When I signed up with Sandy I told her that I was a busy woman.  I already had a day job and didn't plan to be the next Top achiever in Avon.  I told her I only wanted to get a discount on my own purchases and I'd check to see if my family and friends wanted anything whenever I placed my order.  I did not want to be hounded to place my orders each campaign. I went on to tell her that I was a recognition junkie too. And although I"m only getting into this for the discounts, if I tend to do well, then I would want her there by my side encouraging me and showing me how to build the business.  But until then "Leave me alone!"  Sandy agreed to be whatever I needed her to be!  Thank you Sandy!!

But what I don't think Sandy was prepared for was what happened within the next two weeks.  As I shared with my Grandma and my Mom (Who used to have a charge account with her former Avon lady--little did I know)and a few other close friends, that I was now an AVON LADY and they could make their purchases through me, everyone I knew wanted an Avon brochure.  Within a couple days, I'm sure Sandy was wishing she could change her telephone number.  I would call her every day, and tell her what my sales were then.  "They're up to $200!"  "Oh wow! They are at $400 now!" "OMG I'm over $500!"  etc!

That's right, within my first campaign I sold $848 and I WAS SOLD on the income opportunity!  I thought, let's not get too excited here Wendy as this is just your first campaign and people will probably fill up on their Avon needs and not need nothing for a month or two.  Boy was I wrong!  My 2nd campaign was $850.  My 3rd was almost $1200!!!  I was on a roll. 

My excitement must have been contagious because at this point, one of the girls I worked with at the time, came to work one morning after my fourth campaign and told me, "I've been going home and telling my husband how well you are doing with your Avon business and he told me to get off my fat butt and start selling Avon.  So, I'm ready to join your team!"  And the rest has been a whirlwind of excitement for me! 

I am passionate about everything Avon has to offer.  Being a habitual direct seller for a multitude of home party and direct selling companies, I am hooked on Avon...it's products, it's people, and it's income opportunity.
